Baby Girl

Who went shopping for baby girl clothes yesterday? I did! It didn't last long but I needed to purchase at least one pink item yesterday in honor of finding out we'll be having a girl.

Just to document some fun memories I wanted to record about Ryan and I finding out it was a girl. First of all, we were absolutely positive we were having a boy. And, we've been excited about that. It seemed perfect for Owen to have a little brother to pal around with. The night before the ultrasound Ryan even made the comment, "I think we'd both be shocked if we found out we were having a girl." The tech told us she was pretty sure she knew what we were having but didn't want to say it quite yet because she was still looking for something specific. As I lay there looking at the screen I definitely did not see the obvious "it's a boy" sign. I kept thinking, "I think she saying it's a girl, but that cant be right." So, when she finally saw what she needed to see and announced that it was definitely a girl Ryan and I looked at each other shocked. I cried, I think out of shock and excitement--Who doesn't want a little girl at some point?! And I was getting my little girl! Also, I pictured Liz, my twin sister, who is also expecting a girl just 5 weeks before I'm due. I couldn't wait to tell her--twin girl cousins! And my sister in law just had a little girl about 6 weeks ago, so we have a great group of girl cousins forming. The first thing Ryan said was, "Oh my gosh, I'm toast." In other words, "I have no idea how to take care of a little girl." And then he said, "I better get back to work so I can afford her." I can't wait to see Ry holding a little girl and teaching Owen how to be gentle with her.

Since we found out we were expecting another baby I've pictured pulling out the boxes of boys' clothes. But now, it's kind of exciting to start all over as far as clothing, hair bows, etc. All day yesterday I was so excited. Having another boy obviously would've been so exciting, but it's also what we know already, so adding a girl, something we don't know yet, is making all of this that much more exciting.

It's fun for me to find out what we're having because now I can picture a little girl moving around in there, instead of just a baby. It was the same with Owen, picturing a little boy.

Anyway, I just wanted to record a few thoughts I'm having since yesterday.
